If you are a Star Wars fan, let’s be honest, at this point, there is so much collectible stuff it can be overwhelming. You can get action figures, prints, games, food, there is no limit to what the Star Wars name is slapped onto these days.
So when I had walked into Barnes & Noble last weekend (I know, who goes into an actual bookstore these days?), my attention was immediately caught when I saw the Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to the Star Wars Universe on a display near the door (nice job Barnes & Noble, well played).
A Nerdy Visual Treat
The book, Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to the Star Wars Universe, by Tim Leong, was released on July 25. It is something truly different in the landscape of Star Wars collectibles. I have picked up many Star Wars books over the years, mostly featuring imagery from the films, but this one definitely stood out the most to me as a graphic designer.
It features what I can imagine was a painstaking effort to visually represent so much data from the seven Star Wars films, it makes my head hurt. My hat off to you Mr. Leong.
Just the Facts
Sure this book is just filled with graphs and pie charts, but come on some of these will just make you laugh &mash; like the one about Yoda representing his patience and his poor grammar. From each chart, graph, and stat, they are all uniquely done and not one is the same.
So if you are looking for something a little different for your collection, Star Wars fan or not, this is a book that you must have. Might be a great gift idea too. You can get a copy on Amazon for a little more than $13 at the moment. That is a steal!
